We Love Role-Play opened its June round a few days ago and this is a good one that you will see more posts on from me. The first one is a quiet, contemplative scene with an evening walk among some moody ruins. The dress by Dreaming Thicket has a gypsy/boho feel which I love together with the gorgeous Delicate hair from Truth. I am also wearing the diadem and pendant from the Priye set by Adam n Eve.
I ran out of a bit of steam after the first week of more intensive Fantasy Faire blogging, but now I am back to remind you that you have until May 10th to explore and shop at the 18 sims that make up the Fairelands. For this post, I decided to focus a lot on decor items, featuring pieces from Harshlands, the Looking Glass and Roawenwood, as well as a lovely dress from Belle Epoque which actually is a tie-in to the pieces from Harshland.
In Welsh myth, you can recognize the creatures of Annwn—the Otherworld—by their white coats and red ears. If a pack of white hounds with red-tipped ears races through the woods, take care because the rest of the fairy hunt may follow. This seemed like a very appropriate subject for today. Walpurgis Night, the night before Beltane, is the last day of the Wild Hunt, their last chance until Samhain to cause havoc. Here in Sweden, bonfires are traditionally lit to scare off various supernatural creatures that are about on this night (though in some parts of the country, the bonfires have moved to Easter instead, when they primarily scare away witches).
We’re yet another day closer to the opening of the Fantasy Faire. With the help of some items from Del-ka Aedilis for the anniversary round of Redeux (which has been extended until the 23rd of April at noon) I am continuing to stay with the fantasy feel and this time I do have a little Faire preview included. Read on to see!
Slink has just created an Instagram account and done so with a bang. To celebrate, Slink is giving away 60 body bundles to followers of the account! The first level, 100 followers, has already been reached and 10 bundles have been awarded randomly to followers. But there are two more levels, 20 bundles for 500 followers and 30 bundles for 1000 followers, so there are still 50 chances to win if you hurry up.
To tease a bit, I’ve done some shots of my favourite Slink body and, indeed, overall favourite mesh body, the Slink Physique Original. None of the other bodies can rival it for a natural, proportional look. I am also wearing the Miranda head from Slink and the lovely freckled Piper skin, a current freebie at Adam n Eve.
Like many others, no doubt, I find myself rather stressed and distracted of late and it is impacting my creativity and my concentration. It took me much too long to figure to be happy with this setup, though I am fairly pleased with the end results. I had forgotten that this pose/backdrop set from Exposeur was sitting in my inventory and it turned to be just what was needed for the rather raunchy Belit set from Voluptas Virtualis. I am also wearing their Nene nipples on my Slink Hourglass body and a piercing from their latest add-on set as well. Other than that, I am not wearing much!
My skin is Zara by Adam n Eve, which was released for the Skin Fair and now that that has ended it is available in the mainstore. The hair is Maite from Wasabi, a second style with windblown options and petal add-ons. It is available at Uber.
It can hardly have passed anyone by that the biggest skin event of the SL year, the Skin Fair, opened on the 13th of March and will continue until the 29th. Right now the two sims are still pretty packed, but it has started easing up a tiny bit, at least when it isn’t peak hours. I’ve got a booth there myself this year, with four new Kanon shapes, though the one I am using in this post is actually not one of them. I had made mine to go with the three exclusive skins by Adam n Eve, and then sachi went and added a fourth just as the fair was about to open! So, I’ve made a shape for the Rafferty skin using LeLutka Erin, but I haven’t had time to package it yet.
Yesterday, the inaugural round of Hullabazoo opened. I think they have done an excellent job of describing their event on their page, so I am going to quote them:
“HullabaZoo is all about animals and creatures. It’s more than a shopping event and will have classes, a quest, contests, photo ops, parties, and more. Best of all we’re raising money for a great cause! HullabaZoo is an annual event and we would love it to become the BIGGEST creature event of the year - one that you look forward to, get excited about and look forward to it’s return each year!
HullabaZoo isn’t a mainstream fashion event with an “animals” theme so you won’t find zebra-print nails, or paw print T’shirts for human avatars. You will find creature avatars, pets, rideables, props and mods as well as accessories and mods for those creatures.”
The chosen charity for the 2020 event is the Jane Goodall Institute. I’ve only had time for a quick visit so far, but it looks like a great setup and I am really interested in checking some of the things they are planning before the event ends on March 31st. During that quick visit, however, I had time to check out the new Dressage System from Mythril and that is what this post (and, more importantly, video) is all about.
Dutchie has a new release on the way (due tomorrow, in fact), a modern canopy bed with a bit of an industrial touch thanks to the metal frame. It blends the classic elements of a canopy with clean, strict lines and offers six different colours for the cover. Of course, since it is Dutchie, what is under the hood of the bed is also very important. This particular bed comes in three flavours: PG, Adult and Femdom. All versions have All have AVsitter experience enabled for auto attaching of props and all the animations utilize Bento hands. As it is the Femdon version that offers some new functionality, the review focuses on that one. Please note that some of the images included could be considered fairly explicit even if they do not show much detail.
Given this, I want to note the new releases that I am wearing before the cut. The corset is from Voluptas Virtualis for Kinky (available for Belleza Freya, Maitreya Lara and Slink Hourglass) and the hairstyle is by Wasabi for Uber. The eyeshadow is from alaskametro’s new Fire set, also available at Uber.
I have probably mentioned this before, but I am not much of a shoe person IRL…except when it comes to riding boots, that is. In SL, I am not much better, unless we’re talking shoes for roleplay looks. Like these gorgeous, embroidered shoes with knee-high, tied-off stockings that Adam n Eve has out at the new round of We Love Role-Play. They’re the perfect shoe to wear with a ball gown, but of course I wanted to show them off so I opted for something a bit more revealing. To setup the scene, I used a selection of pieces from Libertine, which was just perfect for the boudoir feel I wanted.
My Bakes on Mesh-kick got even more intense yesterday when Slink all of a sudden released SIX Bakes on Mesh-ready bento heads, five for women and one for men. Two of the female heads are updates of the previous static heads, Emma and Becky, so if you owned those you can now grab a redelivery for free! How is that for excellent support? Siddean was kind enough to send me the three completely new heads as well and of course this merited a very in-depth look at the whole set. And what better way to do that than with a video? This also gave me an opportunity to show off the new facial animation HUD from Vista that I picked up just two days ago.
In this post I have also included a head shot of each head with various system layer skins I dug up from my inventory to play with as well as credits for what is shown in the video. And if you want to learn more about Bakes on Mesh, do check out the excellent FAQ by Slink.
Because August flew by so quickly between various trips, I did not manage to make more than one post for Enchantment’s King Arthur round. However, I do have more things to show you, you will just have to hunt them down in the various mainstores now. That is always a good reason to have a browse around other releases from those brand—with everything being so event-focused, that gets done far too rarely these days. This post isn’t just about Enchantment, however, as I also have a couple of brand-new releases from the Dreaming Thicket and Adam n Eve, the latter for the round of We Love Role-Play that just opened.
This started as an entry for Enchantment’s photo contest for their King Arthur-inspired round. Together with the Homeric epics, the Arthurian legends were among the first stories I fell in love with in the form of retellings for children and the wonderful Classics Illustrated before I got to the “real” versions of the legends—which of course with the Matter of Britain is a very nebulous thing given how many different versions there are! In any case, of course I had to attempt an entry for the contest given my love for the legend, it was just a matter of picking ONE favourite scene/element. Fortunately, it also had to be one that could be portrayed in SL, which narrowed the field somewhat. In the end, I settled for Arthur’s body being taken away to Avalon. Yes, there should be three queens—I guess the other two are hiding in the back (or front, rather)—and Excalibur is generally back with the Lady of the Lake rather than in Morgan le Fay’s hands, but we are allowed some liberties and personal tweaks. Like I said, there are so many versions anyway.
To take in that beautiful evening sun, I am heading out to sea on Neptune’s Revenge by Rustica and wearing the brand-new Sola set from Adam n Eve for the Gacha Garden. Isn’t it pretty with the beaded strings on the top and the panty as well as the cute little sarong tied off to one side? The Sola gacha includes 10 commons (3 footbead sets, 4 sarongs, 3 slushies with holding animation), 5 uncommons (1 pair of sunglasses with steel rims, 4 bikini sets), 4 rares (colour-coordinated fatpacks that include footbeads, sarong, bikini and sunglasses with gold rims) and finally an ultrarare that includes everything plus the sunglasses with rose-gold rims. The Seed of Inspiration is a matching beaded bracelet. The available fits are Maitreya Lara and Slink Hourglass.
I love books. IRL, I have quite a few shelves full (okay, its a whole wall covered with shelves from top to bottom), but I do wish it looked a little more like a proper library—like this one, from Dutchie. The richly coloured wood, the rows upon rows of proper hardcovers, it all feels very classy and old-fashioned. A far cry from having your whole library in your Kindle, even if that admittedly is very practical! But one could always have a physical library AND a matching electronic one. That’d be my dream, actually—a dedicated library/workroom with the walls covered by books, and an electronic copy of each title as well.
